Dart Cases Buying Guide
A dart case protects your points, shafts and flights between games, and the right size depends on how many sets you carry. A drop sleeve is enough for one set; league players usually want pockets and tubes for spares. We carry our own Laserdarts drop sleeves and Horizon Darts cases alongside Casemaster and Metroline, holding anywhere from one set up to 10.
What size dart case do I need?
Buy for the number of sets you actually carry, plus room for spare flights and tips.
| You carry | Look for | Try |
|---|---|---|
| 1 set | Drop sleeve or slim hard case | Laserdart Adjustable Drop Sleeve |
| 1 set plus spares | Zippered case with slots | Casemaster Plazma (12 slots) |
| 2 sets | Double case | Metroline Split Back Junior (one set per side) |
| 3 sets | Case with accessory pouches | Casemaster Ternion |
| 4 sets or more | League case | Metroline Large Original (4) or Metroline Executive (8–10) |
Hard or soft dart case: which is better?
Hard cases protect best against crushing and drops; zippered cases trade some of that for pockets. Many good cases combine the two.
- Aluminum: resists crushing and dents far better than a nylon pouch, like the Casemaster Accolade.
- Rigid shell with foam slots: Casemaster's Tactech shell handles drops, and the slots keep flights from crushing, as in the Casemaster Sentinel.
- Molded plastic: compact and crush-resistant, like the Laserdart Drop Sleeve Case.
- Nylon over a hard core: the Single Pak hides a removable fiberglass holder inside a nylon case with pockets.
What is the most compact case for one set of darts?
A fiberglass holder is the smallest way to carry one assembled set. The Fiberglass Insert is small enough to drop straight into a pocket or purse, and it is the same shell used inside the Single Pak case, so it also works as a replacement insert.
If you want a lid that snaps shut, the Laserdart Drop Sleeve Case is a compact molded plastic shell with a hinged closure that keeps one complete set from crushing. Need a little room for spares without much bulk? The Metroline Associate pairs a fiberglass insert for one set with extra pockets for flights and shafts.
Will my darts fit in a case with long shafts or big flights?
Measure one assembled dart from the point to the end of the flight and check it against the case's stated capacity before you buy. The Casemaster Plazma Pro and Plazma hold fully assembled darts up to 7 in (17.8 cm) long. The Casemaster Sport has an extended profile that keeps open flights from being crushed, and the extra-wide Casemaster Warden holds three assembled darts side by side in foam slots. The Laserdart Adjustable Drop Sleeve adjusts its length to fit your set snugly.
What should a league player look for in a dart case?
Look for room for a backup set and a home for every spare, so nothing loose gets crushed or lost.
- A second set: the Metroline Ultra carries two sets plus tubes for tips and shafts.
- Tubes for spares: lost or cracked one? A Replacement Tube fits most case tube slots.
- A padded phone pocket: the Plazma Pro has a soft-lined zippered pocket for a phone or glasses and holds six darts.
- League essentials: the Metroline Large Original has a compartment for a rosin bag and quarters, and the Executive's pocket fits 8½ x 11 in paper for scoresheets.
Can I carry my darts on my belt?
Yes. A clip-on case keeps your set on you between turns instead of in a bag across the room.
- Laserdarts Hip Holster: five zippered pockets plus an adjustable drop sleeve.
- Casemaster Salvo: padded nylon with a clip for your waistband or pocket.
- Dart Pal: crush-proof plastic with a belt clip and room for accessories.
If you carry darts loose in a pocket, cap the points with a Point Protector.
How do I keep spare flights and tips organized?
Give flights a rigid holder and tips a tube, so flights stay flat and tips stay together. A creased spare is no better than the torn flight it replaces.
- Fit Flights: the Fit Flight Fit Holder snaps shut with a magnetic top over one set.
- L-Style or similar flights: the Krystal Flight Case holds a set behind a band and clips on with a carabiner.
- Spare tips: the L-Style Tip Container holds about 30 and clips to your case or belt.
Can I take darts on a plane?
Yes, in checked luggage. The TSA lists darts as not allowed in carry-on bags but allowed in checked bags, and it asks that sharp objects in checked bags be sheathed or securely wrapped to protect baggage handlers and inspectors.
A point cover and a hard case cover both. Cap each point with a Point Protector, then pack the set in a crush-resistant case like the Casemaster Sentry, which has a rigid Tactech shell and holds six assembled darts, or the heavy duty aluminum Casemaster Legion for three sets. Rules can change, and airport security outside the US sets its own, so check before you fly.
