Laserdarts

Horizon Darts' own dart brand, designed and machined in Kansas City, Kansas, and home of the Black Widow.

Laserdarts is an American-made dart brand, not a laser game. The line covers steel tip, soft tip and convertible darts, best known for slim 90% tungsten barrels, plus the shafts, points and flights built for them. It is made by Horizon Darts, a two-person, family-owned company in Kansas City, Kansas.

The Laserdarts approach has stayed consistent for more than four decades: dense, slim barrels with unidirectional grooves, points set by hand, and sets matched within 0.05 gram. The best-known models are the Black Widow family and the WidowMaker convertible, alongside the Eagles, CutThroat, Python, KC, Laserbitz build-your-own barrels and Signature Line darts.

Every Laserdarts barrel carries a lifetime barrel guarantee, and US players can borrow select models through the Dart Lending Library before buying.

Which Laserdarts dart is the most popular?

The Black Widow is the Laserdarts flagship and the dart most players ask for by name. It is a slim, slightly front-weighted 90% tungsten barrel with back-cut grooves, offered as the coated Black and Gold Widows and the uncoated Silver Widow, in fixed point, moveable point and soft tip versions.

Our Black Widow Darts page lists the whole family in order, with a full guide to weights, grips and coatings. A good starting point is the Black Widow Fixed Ringed.

Are Laserdarts made in the USA?

Yes. Laserdarts are made in the USA by Horizon Darts, Inc. in Kansas City, Kansas, where the barrels are designed, machined, packed and shipped. Horizon Darts is a two-person, family-owned company, so the people answering your call are the people making the darts.

Some accessories sold alongside the line, such as flights from partner brands, are made by those brands. Our story page covers the shop and showroom.

Is Laserdarts the same company as Horizon Darts?

Yes. Laserdarts is the dart brand owned and manufactured by Horizon Darts, Inc. Horizon Darts also sells its own Horizon Darts house line of flights, shafts, points and accessories, and stocks other major brands.

You may see the name written as Laserdarts, LaserDarts, Laser Darts or Laserdart in older listings. They all refer to the same Kansas City brand, and it has nothing to do with laser games or laser throw lines.

Which Laserdarts series should I look at?

Start with the grip you like, then pick a weight within that series.

  • Eagles (Silver, Golden, Black): uni-directional grooves, in fixed or moveable point. The ringed Silver Eagle is uncoated; the knurled and Black Eagles add vapor coating.
  • WidowMaker: a slim multi-grip barrel in silver or black vapor coating, fitted with L-Style Shape WidowMaker flights, including convertible models.
  • CutThroat: vertical grooves that work like rifling, numbered #1 to #6 in steel and soft tip.
  • Signature Line: signature barrels such as the Tomahawk, with shark cuts around a smooth center, and the Disco Fever, whose paint changes color as you hold it.
  • Laserbitz: a build-your-own barrel system, covered below.

Fixed point or MP moveable point: which should I choose?

Choose fixed point for a solid, one-piece feel, and moveable point (MP) if bounce-outs off the wires cost you. On an MP dart the point slides back on impact, absorbing some of the shock instead of passing it through a rigid point.

  • Weights differ. The Black Widow Moveable comes in 19g, 22g, 25g and 27g, about 1g under each fixed version.
  • MP points install from the shaft end. Laserdart MP Points come in five lengths from Super Short to Long and must be used with non-metal shafts, which rules out Spider Leg and aluminum shafts.
  • Fixed points can be replaced too. Laserdart Standard Points are 1⅜ in, and Long Points are 1¾ in.

Do the coatings on Laserdarts wear off?

Yes, gradually. The 3-layer vapor coating on models like the Black and Gold Widows adds grip and color, and like any coating it wears with use. Coating and knurling wear is normal and is not covered by the lifetime barrel guarantee.

If you want a finish that won't change, choose uncoated tungsten: the Silver Widow, the ringed Silver Eagle, or the soft tip Silver Eagle #1, which is left bare for a clean release.

What are Spider Leg shafts, and what else fits a Widow?

Spider Leg shafts replace a solid shaft with four high-tensile wires anchored in a 2BA aluminum base, and they come fitted on fixed point Widows. The wires flex on impact instead of snapping, a heat-shrink sleeve holds them together, and their staggered lengths let you change flights without unscrewing anything. Spider Leg Shafts come in medium length with a black or silver base.

Widow-branded flight systems include the Fit Flight Laserdart Widow, which needs a Fit Flight shaft, and the one-piece Condor Zero Stress Widow flight and shaft.

How does the Laserbitz build-your-own system work?

You thread together a front, middle sections and a rear, each 90% tungsten on a 2BA thread, to build the balance and grip you want. Bitz come in sets of 3 and list their weight, such as the 5.5g Front #1 Raised Ring, the 5.0g #3 Knurled and the 4.0g Rear #1 Ringed, so you can add up your barrel weight before you buy.

New to the system? The Laserbitz Bitz Kit sends one front, one rear and five middles chosen for the balance (front, center or rear) and grip (smooth, moderate or aggressive) you select, with shafts, flights and points in a divided case. A soft tip kit is available too.

Do Laserdarts come in soft tip and convertible models?

Yes. The Widows, Eagles, CutThroats and Laserbitz all have soft tip versions, mostly between 16g and 20g. Convertible barrels switch formats when you change the point:

Before throwing a heavy convertible at an electronic board, check the board's weight rating. GranBoard, for example, recommends darts of 20g or less.

What does the Laserdarts lifetime guarantee cover?

If a Laserdarts barrel breaks, cracks or chips through normal use, we replace it. The guarantee does not cover knurling or coating wear, shafts, flights, points, or barrels that have been modified or abused.

Not sure which model to buy? The Dart Lending Library lets US customers borrow up to two sets for 10 business days, keep what works and send back the rest. You can also call our team in Kansas City at 1-800-542-3278.

What is the Laserdarts Advantage?

The Laserdarts Advantage is the set of manufacturing details that make one Laserdart feel like the next:

  • Back-cut grooves: a steep front wall grips on the throw and a gentle rear slope releases cleanly. Laserdarts credits this design to US Patent 4,212,464.
  • Hand pointing: points are set by hand for straight alignment.
  • Weight matching: sets are matched within 0.05 gram.
  • Moveable point option: MP models let the point slide on impact to push past wires.

You can feel the difference most clearly in the Black Widow family.
