Harrows Buying Guide
Harrows is an English dart maker that manufactures in its own factories in Hoddesdon, England, and the Harrows darts we carry run from brass starter sets to a 97% tungsten barrel. The NX, Black Knight, Toro and Fire Inferno are 90% tungsten, match weighed to within 0.05g and packed with shafts and flights. For a tungsten dart you can borrow before buying, compare our Kansas City-made Laserdarts.
Is Harrows a good dart brand?
Yes. Harrows is a long-established English dart maker, founded in 1973 in Enfield, North London, and it now builds its darts in its own purpose-built factories in Hoddesdon, England. It sells around 800 products in more than 100 countries.
The Harrows sets we carry show that depth: injection-molded 90% and 97% tungsten barrels, tough coatings like the copper titanium nitride on the Toro, and a rubber-grip option for sweaty hands. Harrows darts are not part of our Dart Lending Library, so compare the weights and dimensions on each product page before you order.
Which Harrows darts are tungsten, and which are budget sets?
Most Harrows darts we carry are 90% tungsten; the Vivid, Rage and Fire High Grade Alloy are the lower-cost brass, stainless steel and alloy options.
| Dart | Barrel | Steel tip | Soft tip |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vivid | Brass | 21g or 22g, set by color | 18g |
| Rage | Stainless steel | – | 18g, 20g |
| Fire High Grade Alloy | Alloy | 22g, 24g | 18g, 20g |
| NX | 90% tungsten | 22g, 24g, 26g | 18g, 20g |
| Razr | 90% tungsten | – | 18g, 20g |
| Wolfram | 97% tungsten | 24g, 26g | 18g, 20g |
| Ace | Vulcanized rubber grip section | 24g, 26g | 18g |
The Ace is the pick for sweaty hands or humid rooms.
NX, Black Knight, Toro or Fire Inferno: which Harrows tungsten dart suits me?
All four are 90% tungsten and match weighed, so choose by grip and shape.
- NX: ringed, micro and scalloped cuts in three zones on a front-loaded barrel, a good way to learn which texture you like. Natural or black finish.
- Black Knight: linear milling along the whole barrel with two finger index points, so your fingers land in the same place every throw.
- Toro: front-weighted with a tapered nose and a concave center grip, in copper titanium nitride.
- Fire Inferno: fire-effect milling with reverse ring cuts on a front-tapered barrel, in black titanium nitride with red accents.
Is the 97% tungsten Harrows Wolfram worth it?
Yes, if you want the slimmest barrel at your weight. More tungsten packs the same weight into less volume: the 24g Wolfram steel tip is 6.8mm across, against 7.2mm for a 24g NX Black of the same 50mm length. A slimmer dart leaves more room in the treble for the next one.
The Wolfram skips extra cuts and coatings, and each barrel is laser engraved with its actual weight. If you want more grip than a clean barrel gives, a milled dart like the Black Knight suits you better.
Which Harrows darts suit an electronic dartboard?
Every Harrows soft tip dart we carry plays on an electronic board; choose the Black Knight or Wolfram for the slimmest tungsten barrel, and the Razr for a front-weighted grip that bites.
- Black Knight: 90% tungsten, 6.2mm wide at 18g and 6.4mm at 20g, with linear milling and two finger index points.
- Wolfram: 97% tungsten, 6.4mm at 18g and 6.6mm at 20g, laser engraved with its actual weight.
- Razr: 90% tungsten with an acute sawtooth grip on a bulbous, front-balanced barrel, 7.4mm at 18g.
- Budget: the brass Vivid (18g) and the stainless steel Rage (18g or 20g).
NDA tournaments cap soft tip darts at 20g complete, including tip, shaft and flight, so check a 20g set on a scale if your league plays to that rule.
Carbon ST or Carbon Plus: which Harrows shafts should I use?
Choose Carbon ST for durability and fewer deflections, and Carbon Plus to move the balance forward.
- Carbon ST: carbon composite with a rounded flight lead-in and an enlarged ring to cut deflections. Short (33mm) or midi (40mm), in 10 colors.
- Carbon Plus: a slim graphite rod with an anodized linker and top that shift weight toward the point. Short (35mm, 0.9g) or medium (48mm, 1.0g).
Which Harrows flights should I buy?
Choose by look, because the Harrows flights we stock are standard slot-in flights that fit any standard shaft with a flight slot, on steel tip or soft tip darts.
- Harrow Flight: bold graphics, including a silver cracked-glass holographic eagle and a black design with a red fire circle.
- Harrows Carbon Flights: a carbon-look print in black and grey, gold and black, or blue.
The NX, Black Knight, Toro and Fire Inferno ship with 100 micron flights, and flights wear out long before barrels, so keep spares in your case. If yours split often, stiffer Hard Poly flights from our Horizon Darts line resist bending and cracking.
Should I choose Harrows or Laserdarts?
Both offer serious 90% tungsten darts, so decide on what matters to you. Harrows sets arrive match weighed with shafts and flights chosen for the barrel, and the range includes a 97% option. Laserdarts are designed and machined here in Kansas City, many steel tip models come in fixed and moveable point versions, and every barrel carries a lifetime barrel guarantee. If you like the Black Knight's lengthwise grip, try the vertical grooves of the Laserdart CutThroat #4, or borrow a set first through the Dart Lending Library.
