Cosmo Fit Flight Buying Guide
Cosmo's Fit Flight system pairs a molded flight with a matching Fit Shaft so the two lock together as one unit, while the shaft threads into any standard 2BA barrel. Fit Shafts come in eight numbered lengths, from #1 Mini at 0.51 in (13mm) to #8 Gigantic at 1.67 in (42.5mm). Several Laserdarts Widow sets ship on Cosmo Fit parts, and our Kansas City team can help you match a length by phone or email.
Do Fit Flights work with regular shafts, and do Fit Shafts take regular flights?
No on both counts. Fit Flights need a Fit Shaft, and Fit Shafts will not lock onto standard friction-fit flights. The only part that connects to the rest of your dart is the thread: Fit Shafts use 2BA, so they screw into any standard steel tip or soft tip barrel.
That keeps switching simple. Keep your barrels, buy shafts in your length, then pick flights by shape. A Fit Shell Container holds a full set of spare Fit Flights without crushing them.
Are Cosmo Fit Flights worth switching to?
They are worth it if your flights keep working loose or losing their shape. A Fit Flight locks onto its Fit Shaft instead of sliding into a slot, and Cosmo heat-sets the flights so the edges hold their form rather than curling.
The trade-off is commitment. Every dart in the set needs a Fit Shaft, your spares have to be Fit Flights, and a borrowed standard flight will not fit. If you would rather keep standard flights and just want a firmer hold, SuperGrip Locked Shafts use machined rings instead of springs, so the grip does not open up with repeated flight changes.
Which Cosmo Fit Shaft length should I buy?
If you are not sure, start at #4 In-Between or #5 Medium and adjust once you see how your darts group. Shorter shafts generally suit front grippers or darts that sit too steep in the board; longer shafts suit rear grippers or darts that hang.
| Size | Length |
|---|---|
| #1 Mini | 0.51 in (13mm) |
| #2 Super Short | 0.71 in (18mm) |
| #3 Short | 0.94 in (24mm) |
| #4 In-Between | 1.12 in (28.5mm) |
| #5 Medium | 1.22 in (31mm) |
| #6 Long | 1.38 in (35mm) |
| #7 Ex-Long | 1.52 in (38.5mm) |
| #8 Gigantic | 1.67 in (42.5mm) |
Gear shafts come in #1 to #5, with #6 to #8 sold as Gear Extended Lengths.
Locked or spinning, carbon or aluminum: which Fit Shaft is right for me?
Choose locked if you want the flight to stay exactly where you set it, and spinning if you group tightly and want the top to turn on contact instead of your flight being twisted out of line. Then pick a material:
- Gear: offered in eleven colors, like the Gear Slim Locked.
- Carbon: lighter than aluminum and stiffer than plastic, like the Carbon Slim Spinning.
- Duraluminum: more heft and rigidity than carbon.
- Titanium: resists corrosion better than aluminum.
Grip profiles run Slim, Hybrid and Normal, and Normal gives your fingers the most to hold.
What is the difference between Fit Flight and Fit Flight Air?
Fit Flight Air flights are thermally molded to be about 33% lighter than a standard flight, in the same cuts as the regular line. Regular Fit Flights are heat-set so they hold their form instead of curling at the edges.
- Standard is Cosmo's widest cut, like Fit Flight Standard.
- Shape is the classic profile, with SuperShape a larger version, like Fit Flight Air Shape.
- Kite, SuperKite, TD (Pear), W Shape and F Shape give more choices between wide and narrow.
- Slim is the narrowest, and Rocket is long and tapered, like Fit Flight Air Slim.
Do Signature Fit Flights fly differently from plain Fit Flights?
No. Signature Fit Flights use the same Fit mount and the same cuts as plain Fit Flights; the printed design is what changes. Pick the cut you already throw, then the artwork.
- Standard: designs like Paula Murphy's dolphin.
- Shape: designs like Nasir Bomba's leopard face.
- Slim: designs like Darin Young's gold camo and spider.
Some designs come in more than one cut, such as Trish Grzesik 5 in Standard and Slim, and a few are built on the Air line, like the David Fatum Air Signature Slim. Like every Fit Flight, a Signature needs a Fit Shaft.
What are Cosmo Fit Point Plus soft tips?
Fit Point Plus is Cosmo's durable, chip-resistant soft tip, sold in boxes of 50, with a small tool attached to each point so you can tighten it into the barrel without a separate wrench.
- Fit Point Plus Regular: 1 in (25.4mm), in eight colors.
- Fit Point Plus Short: 0.75 in (19mm), in black or white, for players who find Regular too long.
Confirm your barrel takes Cosmo Fit points before ordering. To throw a soft tip barrel on a bristle board, the Fit Point Plus Conversion Point swaps in a carbon steel point, in a box of 30, for steel tip boards only.
Which Laserdarts come with Cosmo Fit parts?
The moveable point Widows do. The Black Widow Moveable Ringed, plus the Gold and Silver Widow moveable sets, ship with Cosmo Fit shafts and Cosmo Widow flights in a Laserdart drop sleeve. To restock, pick Laserdart Widow Fit Flights in Shape or Slim and match your shaft number. Every Laserdarts barrel carries our lifetime barrel guarantee, and US players can try Laserdarts through the Dart Lending Library.
